Speaker of the House of Peoples of PA BiH Kemal Ademović visited Zvornik and Srebrenica

"Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PA BiH) Kemal Ademović visited Zvornik and Srebrenica yesterday. The central topic of the conversation with the citizens, in addition to the political and security situation, was the protection of the property of returnees in the BiH entity Republika Srpska (RS).

The citizens of Zvornik and Srebrenica, first of all, expressed their concern over suspicions of the disruption of the security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina caused by the harsh political rhetoric, and presented numerous cases of attempts to confiscate property that has been in their or their ancestors' possession for decades.

The authorities in the RS, the citizens said, using the provisions of the new or amended laws of that entity, as well as the fact that a large number of returnees are not physically present on their properties throughout the year, confiscate citizens' property in a non-transparent and unfounded procedure. At the same time, the prescribed appeal procedures are extremely short, and the lawsuits are expensive, which makes it impossible for people to legally return their property to their ownership, warned the citizens.

In this regard, the opening of a foundation based in Zvornik was announced, which will provide returnees with free legal services to protect their property from confiscation.

The delegation, which visited Zvornik and Srebrenica together with Speaker Ademović, included the Dean of the Faculty of Law of the University of Zenica, prof. Ph.D. Larisa Velić, members of Speaker Ademović's Office, Sejfudin Hodžić and Nedim Čivić, councillor in Tuzla City Council Esana Kavazbašić-Huskanović, and member of Sarajevo Canton Assembly and political director of Narod i Pravda, Rusmir Pobrić" (Statement from the Office of Speaker of the House of Peoples Kemal Ademović )
