The newly-appointed Ambassador of Egypt was received today by the Speaker of the House of Peoples, Staša Košarac

 
Egypt and Bosnia and Herzegovina have a long history of good bilateral relations, based on co-operation between this Middle East country and former Yugoslavia. At the meeting, between Staša Košarac (Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH) and Mr Yasser Sayed Mahmoud Elatawi (the newly-appointed Ambassador of Egypt to Bosnia and Herzegovina), it was stated that all preconditions are met to continue such co-operation in the future.

During the meeting, Mr Košarac introduced his guest to the current political situation and efforts to be made, with the goal that BiH fulfils its obligations and moves closer to the EU. Speaking of bilateral relations between BiH and Egypt, he outlined a need to better utilize possibilities for economic co-operation and connection.

Ambassador Elatawi announced the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections in Egypt; that will create the full democratic platform for co-operation with Bosnia and Herzegovina. He emphasized a need to strengthen parliamentary relations between the two countries. On this occasion, Ambassador Elawi invited the leadership of BiH PA to visit Egypt, after the establishment of the new government bodies, to see first-hand the quality of the progress achieved.

Staša Košarac wished for a successful democratic process in Egypt. He expressed his hope that the newly-appointed Ambassador Elatawi will have an opportunity to actively participate in the further development of relations between Egypt and Bosnia and Herzegovina. (end)
