The Management of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina met with the President of the Hellenic Parliament

 
During the course of today's meeting of members of the Collegium of the House of Representatives and House of Peoples and members of the Bosniak Caucus with the delegation from the Hellenic Parliament led by Evangelos Meimarakis (President of the Parliament), it was noted that relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Greece are progressing and in particular intensifying this year.

Dr. Denis Bećirović, Speaker of the House of Representatives said during the meeting there are no outstanding issues between us and it is in our mutual interest to improve relations in all areas. He added that Bosnia and Herzegovina is particularly interested in signing an agreement on customs co-operation and assistance, and also in sea and railway transport between the two countries, social security, in addition to a protocol on co-operation in the field of tourism.

Staša Košarac, Speaker of the House of Peoples, pointed out that in Bosnia and Herzegovina different political actors still have diverse opinions, but he also expressed moderate optimism that under different political benchmarks, BiH's path to the European Union shall be accelerated. He expressed satisfaction over the fact that, as he put it, Greece, with the same intensity respects the attitudes of Sarajevo, Banja Luka and Mostar, in order to obtain an overall picture of the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

According to Mr. Evangelos Meimarakis, economic relations between the two countries can be much better and should be improved through joint programs and stronger connection of entrepreneurs. He called for further strengthening of parliamentary co-operation and offered that, if so requested, the Hellenic Parliament will find good solutions for Bosnia and Herzegovina on the path to the European Union.

Dr. Milorad Živković, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, expressed a hope that the implementation of the Sejdić and Finci v. Bosnia and Herzegovina shall not only open the way for Bosnia and Herzegovina to the European Union, but will also represent a beginning of the closure of the OHR in our country. Halid Genjac, Chair of the Bosniak People in the House of Peoples, invited guests to continue to support efforts to implement Sejdić-Finci and also the establishment of a co-ordinating body for co-operation with the European Union.
