Member of the Permanent Delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH PA) in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Borjana Kristo participates in the Conference on the implementation of the Council of Europe Convention on the Rights of the Child from 2012 to 2015, being held today and tomorrow in Dubrovnik.

The aim of the conference is to publicly promote the idea that children should not grow up contrary to the principles set out in the Strategy. The effective implementation of existing standards for children's rights must be achieved. As Kristo emphasized, achievement of these goals should include all relevant institutions of government, parliamentarians, key international organizations and civil society representatives.

In 2012, BiH adopted a National Strategy to combat violence against children for 2012 - 2015, aiming to establish a multi-disciplinary and sustainable system for: reporting and recording incidents of violence against children; ensuring adequate and sustainable support systems; funding; and collecting data in order to improve the prevention of, and protection from, violence against children in BiH, and to establish a safe environment in which every child has the right to be protected from all forms of violence. Given that BiH is complying with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, the strategic objective of all levels of government should be to develop the legal framework necessary to enforce its guidelines.
