Collegium of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina spoke with the Delegation of the Consultative Assembly of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Members of the Collegium of the House of Representatives, Dr. Božo Ljubić and Dr. Denis Bećirović, and the House of Peoples delegate, Mr Halid Genjac, spoke today with the Speaker of the Consultative Assembly of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mr Abdullah bin Ibrahim Al Sheikh, and his associates, who are paying an official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).

In an open and friendly discussion, the need for improving relations between the two friendly countries, in particular in the economic field, was expressed. The potential for Saudi investment in the fields of infrastructure, electro engineering, energy industry, agriculture, organic food production and tourism were emphasized. However, it was stated today that, in order to use investment opportunities, much more must be done to remove prejudices. It is particularly important that BiH does more to encourage foreign and Saudi investors to view BiH as a safe and profitable market.

In addition, the need to finalize and sign more mutual agreements and protocols was expressed today, especially the following: a Bilateral Agreement on the Protection and Improvement of Investments; an Avoiding Double Taxation Agreement; co-operation in the fight against organized crime and a Protocol of Understanding in the field of Tourism.

The hosts used this opportunity to once again thank their guests for Saudi Arabia’s whole-hearted assistance to BiH post war reconstruction.

During the meeting, views on current events in the Arabic world and Asia were exchanged. (end)
