Milica Marković, member of the Permanent Delegation of the BiH PA in PACE, appointed as PACE rapporteur

 
Milica Marković, member of the Permanent Delegation of the BiH PA in PACE, was appointed as PACE rapporteur on the topic of “The people in border regions of Azerbaijan, who have been deliberately denied water”. This appointment took place during a meeting of the PACE Committee on Social Affairs, Health and Sustainable Development on 12 and 13 May in Nicosia.

PACE believes that free access to water, regardless of borders, is a basic right of all citizens. Accordingly, MP Milica Marković, as PACE rapporteur, will deal with this issue and make appropriate reports about a solution to the problem.

Also, there are several other things that were unanimously approved at the Committee meeting - proposals of reports and proposals of resolutions for the prevention of breast cancer and also a child - friendly judiciary. They also adopted a proposition for opinions about violence in, and via, the media.

During the meeting, attendees were addressed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Cyprus, Yiannakis L. Omirou, the Minister of Justice and Public Order of Cyprus, Ionas Nicolaou, and the Minister of Health of Cyprus, Phillipos Postalis.

At a meeting of the Parliamentarians Contact Network of PACE, which was held today, the successful prosecution of cases of sexual violence against children and the strengthening of national policies of PACE member states to halt sexual violence against children, were discussed with the Cypriot authorities, a number of experts and non-governmental organizations.
