Members of the Permanent Delegation of the BiH PA to PACE in regular summer session

 
Members of the Permanent Delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH PA) to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) -- Milica Marković, Senad Sepić and Ismeta Dervoz - were in Strasbourg this week for the regular summer session of PACE. There, they actively participated in the work of the PACE Committee, including in voting for the Secretary General of the international organization.

During the session, members of our Permanent Delegation held several bilateral meetings, including with the delegation of Canada, an observer in PACE. During this meeting, a deputy in the Parliament of Canada, and the President of the Friendship Group for BiH Cornelio Chisu expressed his satisfaction that the delegation of BiH confirmed its participation at the plenary session of the PS La Francophonie, to be held in Ottawa from 4 to 8 July 2014.

Members of the BiH Permanent Delegation to PACE met with the representatives responsible for the arrangement of the ad hoc committee tasked to oversee the upcoming general elections in BiH.

BiH Delegate Milica Marković, who actively participated in the work of the Committee on Legal Affairs and the Committee on Social Affairs, met with representatives of the delegations of Azerbaijan and Armenia in Strasbourg. During these meetings, Ms. Marković, appointed as the PACE rapporteur on the topic "The people in the border regions of Azerbaijan deliberately cut off from water," co-ordinated the realization of the corresponding report.

BiH Delegate Ismeta Dervoz, also serving as a PACE Rapporteur, met with the Delegation of Cyprus with the aim of finalizing preparations for the meeting of experts to be held from 22 to 23 July 2014 in Sarajevo. The meeting will refer to et al the work of Ms. Dervoz on the report "Preservation of cultural heritage in crisis and post-crisis situations". Ms. Dervoz, the first vice-deputy, chaired the meeting of the Committee on Equality and Non-Discrimination of Council of Europe, and participated in the work of the Network of Parliamentarians for combating violence against women and domestic violence.

During the regular summer session of PACE, Thorbjorn Jagland was re-elected to the position of Secretary General of the Council of Europe. During the week, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko also delivered addresses. (End)
