Members of the Collegium of the House of Representatives and the House of Peoples talked with delegation of the Committee for Foreign Affairs of the Chamber of Deputies of Italian Parliament

Members of the Collegium of the House of Representatives and the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PA BiH), met today with a delegation of the Committee for Foreign Affairs of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Republic of Italy, which is in a several-day working visit to our country.

This was an opportunity to thank the guests from Italy for the consistent support of Italy on the Euro-Atlantic path of our country. During today's meeting, it was stated that the relations between Italy and BiH are at a very high level and that this trend is followed by very good relations between the state parliaments and their working bodies.

Members of the Delegation of the Committee, led by the Chairman of this body, Fabrizio Cicchitto, have noted that they are very interested in the situation in the Western Balkans, saying that without the stability of this region there is no stability of the whole of Europe. At the same time, as it was said, common responses to current global threats such as terrorism and radicalization as well as to the refugee crisis that Italy is facing for many years should be found in wide cooperation.

Guests from Italy have been informed today that our country has fulfilled a relatively high percentage of its commitments from Reform Agenda for EU accession. However, it was said that major tasks are still ahead of us; the work on implementation of the decisions of the Constitutional Court of BiH and the judgment of the European Court of Human Rights as well as the electoral legislation reform are highlighted as the most important ones.

The economic cooperation was estimated as very good. Italy is one of the most important foreign trade partners of Bosnia and Herzegovina, however, it was stated during the talks that this cooperation should be further improved. Therefore it was concluded that it is necessary to further speed up work on the signing of an interstate agreement on economic co-operation between BiH and Italy. (End).
