Members of the PABiH Delegation in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie Salko Sokolović and Mensura Beganović talk with a Deputy in the National Assembly of the Republic of France

Members of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH) in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie, Salko Sokolović and Mensura Beganović, spoke today in Sarajevo with a Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of France, Frederic Petit, about possibilities of improving the cooperation of national parliaments in the field of education, culture and the dissemination of French language in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Deputy Petit, the Vice-President of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with BiH in the National Assembly of France and the representative of the French in the countries of Central and South-East Europe, was interested in the possibility of establishing direct cooperation between the highest legislative institutions of France and Bosnia and Herzegovina in order to send interns from our country to the French Parliament.

Petit presented several examples of good practice regarding the establishment of cooperation between national universities in France and Bosnia and Herzegovina in terms of organising French language courses at our universities, as well as the opportunities for the twinning of some educational institutions to facilitate the dissemination of the French language, a project already running by French schools in several European countries.

Emphasising the fact that PABiH hosted a session of the Parliamentary Assembly of Francophonie for the region of Europe in October last year, members of the PABiH Delegation in the Parliamentary Assembly of Francophonie strongly supported MP Petit’s proposals and confirmed that they will work on its realisation through the activities of the PABiH.

MPs Sokolović and Beganović said that higher representation of French in schools and universities in BiH would contribute to strengthening of economic cooperation of the two countries, as well as to attracting a greater number of French investors to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As a part of the visit to our country, MP Petit will also visit the International French College (CIFS) in Sarajevo today. (End)
